"Rabat, the Cultural Capital of Africa and the Islamic World - 2022" is the title of the book that was presented, Friday June 10th in Rabat, at the Pavilion of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, on the 27th edition of the International Publishing and Book Fair (SIEL), organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Mr. Mehdi Bensaid Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication was present, as well as some outstanding personalities and African Ambassadors including:
Eric Joel Békalé, Traveling Ambassador, in charge of the Unit of analysis, prevention and cultural issues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Gabon, Fode Sylla, Traveling Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal and Bios Diallo, Mauritanian writer, poet and journalist. The book is a collective publication that is 100% African and to which 31 personalities and famous African writers (Egypt, Jordan, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Burundi, Algeria, Senegal ...) have contributed. It was made possible by Abdelkader Retnani, editor and the head of the publishing house "La Croisée des Chemins".
"The idea crossed our minds through an anthology of African poetry," says Abdelkader Retnani. This work, which contributes to the global cultural influence of the city of Rabat, is the result of a South-South solidarity. "The promotion of the book is a necessity and is the current struggle. We think we can launch cultural fairs in all regions of Morocco," said Minister Mehdi Bensaïd. As a reminder, the City of Light, elected ''Capital of African Culture'', warmly welcomed the 27th edition of The Fair. "The organization in Rabat of the 27th edition of the International Book Fair (SIEL), from June 3 to 12, 2022, is a consecration for this city as the cultural capital of the Kingdom, African Capital of Culture and Capital of Culture in the Islamic world for the year 2022, "said Mr Mehdi Bensaid, on May 27th in Rabat, during the press conference organized for presenting the 27th edition of SIEL.
