Renowned Poet and Diplomat Dr. Salem bin Mohammed Al-Malik Launches His New Poetry Collection at Rabat Book Fair

As part of the events of the International Book and Publishing Fair in Rabat, a special evening was dedicated to the launch and signing of Khameesiyat, the latest poetry collection by Saudi poet and diplomat Dr. Salem bin Mohammed Al-Malik. The gathering was marked by a rich blend of culture, poetry, and personal reflections, with the presence of the Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid.

The ceremony opened with a heartfelt speech from Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, who warmly welcomed Dr. Al-Malik, describing him not only as a distinguished diplomat but also as a true artist and friend. “Working with him at ICESCO was always smooth because he is more than a diplomat; he is an artist. I sincerely thank him for writing about my city, Rabat, and for the friendship that has blossomed between us,” he said.

A portrait of the poet was presented, highlighting his journey from Saudi Arabia to the world of literature. Trained as a medical doctor, Al-Malik’s passion for poetry took him across cities and experiences, inspiring him to write about places such as Cairo, Tetouan, Riyadh, Baghdad, and Palestine. His verses also pay tribute to women, crafted with pure poetic emotion. And in a symbolic gesture, the poet gifted the first signed copy of Khameesiyat to Minister Bensaid.

Literary critic Abdullah bin Arfa offered a deep reading of the collection, emphasizing its spiritual tone and humanitarian depth. “This series has a significant title, linked to the blessed day of Thursday. Every poem carries a clear spiritual note, a sense of wisdom, and strong advocacy for human causes such as the Palestinian issue. Khameesiyat represents a new poetic form that demands thoughtful reading,” he noted.

Ambassador Khalid Fathalrahman added his reflections, pointing out the lyrical presence of nature in Al-Malik’s work. “There is a kind of romanticism with nature in his poetry. In the final piece, he beautifully expresses admiration for spring.”

Khameesiyat stands as a testament to Dr. Salem Al-Malik’s unique ability to blend poetic elegance with deep cultural and humanitarian insight. Through his verses, he captures the soul of cities, the essence of human experience, and the beauty of spiritual reflection. The event at the Rabat Book Fair not only celebrated a new literary work but also highlighted the power of poetry to bridge cultures and touch hearts.
