Nearly three-quarters of young Moroccans believe English is the language of the future. Given the easy accessibility of information in English, young people prefer using it in communication and lately in writing. There is a growing interest in introducing English in the Education system according to Tom Hill, HM Consul General in Casablanca.
Mohamed Hassim noticed that English is introduced at lower levels in the Moroccan school. He stated that teachers are required to publish in English. Writing in English gives access to a wider community of writers and researchers. However, English publications constitute 2.58 percent of national Moroccan annual publications according to a study done by The Moroccan National Library, and the Institute Al Saoud.
Mohamed Hassim recommends using English as the main language of artistic workshops and extracurricular activities. He defends that making English as a primary language in everyday life, would definitively impact the productivity of books and published work.
