Sunday, June 5, 2022, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Communication, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, handed over, at the Pavilion of the Ministry, the Ibn Battuta Awards for Travel Literature to the lucky winners, awarded by the Arab Center for Geographic Literature - Discovery of Horizons. These are Ammar Ali Hussain (Egypt), Aïssa Aouda Barhouma (Jordan),

Lina Huyan ElHassan (Syria), Hafid Qasim Saleh Sadiq (Yemen), Naima Al-Haousani (United Arab Emirates), Youssef Waqas (Syria), Ahmed Said Najm (Palestine), Hadi Abdallah Al-Taie (Iraq), Malik Deniz Ozdemir (Turkey), Ayman Hassan (Tunisia), Zahia Monsir (Algeria) and Ahmed Zakaria (Egypt). On the Moroccan side, it was Mohamed Ainak who was distinguished by winning as

well. The award ceremony of the 20th edition was held as part of the International  Publishing and Book Fair, led by Charaf Eddine Majdouline, in the presence the Minister Mehdi Bensaid, the Director of the Arab Center, the Syrian poet Nouri Al-Jarrah, the Chairman of the Jury Committee, Abderrahmane Bsisso and the Director of the Arab Institution for Studies and Publishing, Mahir El Kayali. Nouri Al-Jarrah recalled on this occasion that the Ibn Batouta Prize for Travel Literature is back in Rabat where this beautiful literary adventure began, when the city was the capital of Arab culture. On behalf of the publishers, Khalid Naciri stated that this award bears the name of a symbol of Moroccan culture and its openness to all languages and all countries: Ibn Batouta. "This prize is a bridge between Morocco and the East. Whoever has not visited Morocco is not really an Arab, he is missing something. Morocco and Andalusia have contributed a lot to Arab culture and literature," said Nouri Al-Jarrah. "We are very proud that the Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid carries this legacy by promising to encourage people to do better," added Abderrahmane Bsisso. Finally, Minister Bensaid, said that this day will remain forever, engraved in the memories and expressed the wish to celebrate the related works of Ibn Batouta during an international day in Tangier, his hometown.
